SmartOLT User Manual
How to work in SmartOLT, from the first OLT to everyday ONU management. Read it in order, or jump to the chapter you need.
Getting started
Connect your first OLT and find your way around.
- 1.1Getting startedWhat you need, how to prepare and connect the OLT, and how to add it to SmartOLT.
- 1.2The dashboardWhat each box on the dashboard shows and where its links take you.
- 1.3Add an OLT and check its statusFill in the Add OLT form, test the connection, then check the OLT details, cards, PON ports, uplinks and backups.
- 1.4Enable SNMP traps In SmartOLTEnable SNMP traps on an OLT for real-time ONU statuses and fast outage alerts, check that they arrive, and run the diagnosis when they do not.
Network setup
The building blocks you prepare once: zones, splitters, speeds and connections.
- 2.1ZonesCreate zones to group ONUs by area and filter every list by them.
- 2.2Splitters In SmartOLTRecord your splitters, their ports and location, and link ONUs to them.
- 2.3Speed profilesCreate the download and upload speeds you assign to ONUs.
- 2.4ONU typesDefine the ONU models you use, with their PON type, ports and capabilities, and edit or delete a type.
- 2.5SectorsSplit one network into sectors, put splitters and ONUs in them, and limit users to their sectors.
- 2.6Configure TR-069Set up the VPN tunnel, the TR069 profile, the management VLAN and the ONU management IPs, then enable TR-069 on an ONU.
ONUs
Authorize ONUs, change their settings and work with many ONUs at once.
- 3.1Authorize an ONUFind a new ONU in Unconfigured, fill in the authorization form and check that the ONU is online.
- 3.2Add an ONU for later authorization In SmartOLTSave an ONU with its settings before it is connected, then finalize the authorization when it appears on the OLT.
- 3.3Authorization presets and auto-authorization In SmartOLTSave ONU settings as a preset, apply it when you authorize an ONU, or let SmartOLT authorize matching ONUs automatically for a set time.
- 3.4Auto actions: authorize, move and resync In SmartOLTLet SmartOLT authorize, move or resync detected ONUs for a set time.
- 3.5Find ONUs in the Configured listSearch, filter and sort the authorized ONUs, read the list columns and export the filtered list to CSV.
- 3.6Manage an authorized ONUFind an ONU, read its page, change speed, VLANs and Ethernet ports, use Reboot, Resync, Disable or Delete, and move or replace the ONU.
- 3.7ONU configuration presets In SmartOLTSave ONU settings as a preset, apply it to one ONU or in batch, and remove a reversible preset to restore the old settings.
- 3.8Configure WiFi and internet (WAN) on an ONU with TR-069 In SmartOLTSet the WiFi per band and the WAN of an ONU that already reports to the ACS: PPPoE, DHCP or static IP, including IPv4/IPv6 dual stack.
- 3.9Set up a PPPoE WAN over TR-069 In SmartOLTSwitch an ONU from a manual WAN to PPPoE over TR-069 and check that the PPPoE session is up.
- 3.10Set up VoIP on an ONUPrepare the VoIP VLAN, the uplink and a VoIP profile, then enable VoIP on an ONU and set the phone number and SIP password of its phone port.
- 3.11Set up IPTVEnable the IPTV module, add the multicast VLAN, enable IPTV on an ONU and its LAN port, and turn the CATV port on or off.
- 3.12Batch actions In SmartOLTApply one change to many ONUs from the Configured page, follow the tasks to the end, and upgrade ONU firmware in bulk through TR-069.
Monitoring
Find outages fast and get notified when they happen.
- 4.1Get alerts for PON outages, loops and rogue ONUs In SmartOLTSee PON outages, Ethernet loops and rogue ONUs on the dashboard, get Telegram alerts for groups or users, and enable SNMP traps.
- 4.2GraphsRead the OLT, uplink, PON port and ONU graphs, open longer periods, and zoom the traffic and signal graphs on the ONU page.
- 4.3Diagnostics In SmartOLTFilter ONUs by status, signal level and status change time, compare Rx OLT and Rx ONU with the signal limits, and export the list.
Map Coming soon
See your ONUs on the map, draw your fiber network and import it from KML.
- 5.1Use the map Coming soonOpen the map, find and filter ONUs, read the marker colors and the ONU details, and put an ONU on the map.
- 5.2Draw your fiber network Coming soonDraw cabinets, splice closures, poles and splitters, draw fiber routes with their fiber type, and connect ONUs with cables.
- 5.3Import from KML Coming soonImport points and lines from Google Earth, My Maps or QGIS as splitters, closures, cabinets, poles and fiber routes.
Tasks and reports
Follow what SmartOLT does for you and export your data.
- 6.1Traffic usage In SmartOLTSee the ONUs with the most traffic for yesterday, a week, a month or this year, filtered by OLT, PON port, zone, splitter or VLAN.
- 6.2Find config mismatches In SmartOLTCompare the ONU admin and CATV states in SmartOLT with the OLT, fix them, or keep the OLTs in sync every day.
